Content of study

In this study, more than 500 manufacturers and users from the trades and planning in Germany were surveyed along all the trades involved in construction with regard to their current challenges. The aim was to examine the effects of overarching trends in the construction industry such as a shortage of skilled workers, climate change and digitalisation in terms of their concrete impact and to derive a corridor of action for the next 10 years for the construction supply industry.

The result shows that the industry will change significantly in the coming years, driven by accelerating consolidation of the skilled trades and manufacturers, as well as further increasing complexity. S&B Strategy estimates that approx. 60,000 craft businesses and 4,000 manufacturing companies will exit the market by 2030.
